Dominic Anthony Cecere
The Dominic A. Cecere Play For 10 Foundation is dedicated to honoring the legacy of Coach Cecere as an Educator, Mentor and Coach by awarding scholarships to deserving college-bound students and engaging in other charitable endeavors consistent with Coach Cecere's life of selfless giving.
“The Cecere Way: Honoring the Legacy of Coach Dom Cecere”
Dom Cecere, affectionately known as “Coach,” was the heart and soul of Eastchester baseball for 52 seasons, leading the Eastchester Eagles to an unprecedented 737 wins—the most in New York State high school baseball history. His coaching career also extended into minor league baseball, where his expertise, particularly as a premier pitching coach, was sought after by professional players during their winter training sessions. Coach Cecere’s excellence was recognized with numerous accolades, including inductions into the Westchester County and New York State Halls of Fame and the prestigious National Baseball Coach of the Year Award.
But Coach Cecere’s legacy extends far beyond wins and awards. His greatest impact was not measured in victories, but in the thousands of young lives he shaped. On and off the field, he instilled the values of hard work, discipline, integrity, and respect—principles that became known as the “Cecere Way” in the Eastchester community. More than just a coach, he was a mentor, father figure, and role model who empowered his players to pursue their dreams in both athletics and academics.
On April 1, 2017, Coach Cecere lost his third and final battle with cancer. He is survived by his wife Lyn, three sons and daughters-in-law, and three grandchildren, but his spirit lives on in the countless lives he influenced.
To honor his legacy, the Dom Cecere Play for 10 Foundation was established to provide scholarships to deserving college-bound students who exemplify the values he championed. Through generous donations, a memorial adjacent to the Eastchester High School baseball field now stands as a tribute to Coach Cecere—not just as a legendary coach, but as a scholar, mentor, and guiding force for generations of students and alumni.
We invite you to join us in continuing Coach Cecere’s mission. Your support will help ensure that future student-athletes, who embody the “Cecere Way,” receive scholarships in his name and carry forward the lessons he so passionately taught.
